John Young, Australia’s well known and respected naturalist, wildlife film maker and consultant, says:
“Birding and travelling through this great country of ours is one of life’s great pleasures.
Often it takes us into remote and sometimes uncharted wilderness, which few people get a chance to experience …… unless you are with your guides, when your tour will be an adventure of hospitality with expertise in observing wildlife, and especially bird watching, and become one of the memorable experiences in your life.”
With a love of nature and the environment since childhood, your guides first experienced Australian Wildlife when he arrived in Darwin from West Germany in 1980.
With Dunk Islands Wild and Bird Life fully catalogued, your guide set off to the Tip of Cape York where Australian Airlines employed him as their official Naturalist at their newly upgraded Wilderness Lodge. In 1989, armed with invaluable knowledge gained from years of experience of the North’s ‘ Special Places’ both with Wildlife and in the tourist industry, your guide opened his own business, Kirrama Wildlife Tours.
Now, with nearly twenty years of expertise in birdwatching, recognising calls, nocturnal bird searching and locating wildlife in Australia’s northern regions, your guide specialises in finding that elusive bird for the experienced birdo. Beginners fit in just as comfortably in the small groups, where the informal atmosphere brings together people from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities with one common interest …………birds.
Since 1983, your guide has photographed with publishing success Australian Wildlife. His photographs have been used in numerous publications including, wilderness diaries, educational material, books, magazines, and calenders. He is a contributor to two photographic libraries:
